Looks like Microsoft may be working hard to get a lightweight version of Windows XP available for Eee PC. Asus will begin "officially" offering Eee PC buyers a choice between Linux and Windows.

Asus CEO Jerry Shen predicts that more than half of the Eee PCs sold this year will run XP instead of Linux.

Yahoo! has become the first big search portal to allow users to search the web with their mobile phone using only their voice. The service is called Yahoo! oneSearch. It is currently available for BlackBerry Curves, Pearls and 8800 series phones. No mention of the iPhone yet, but they do plan on supporting other vendors soon.

Gizmodo is reporting that Apple's recent iPhone firmware update has been hacked. This comes after the most recent hack allowing the iphone to be unlocked and used on different carrier networks (called jailbreaking).

This hack is not considered a "jailbreak" hack, but rather a complete hack that allows you to run _any_ app and use _any_ compatible carrier you want in the world.

Maryland is looking to pass a law that would make surfing the Internet on someone else's wireless connection, without permission, a crime under a bill sponsored by LeRoy E. Myers Jr.

He told the House Judiciary Committee that one of his neighbors, after buying a new laptop computer, got onto the Internet, thinking it was going through his own cable connection when in reality he was logged in to Myers' home Internet hookup.

Voltaic Systems Inc. will be releasing a solar-powered laptop bag that will charge laptops carried inside. The company already sells solar-powered bags that carry and charge cell phones, MP3 players and PDAs. This new bag called the "Generator" and will be the first bag designed to charge laptops.

You can bet that Apple wants to move the iphone into the corporate world to compete with the likes of Research in Motion. Their ambitions don't stop there. They now see an opportunity to enter the much sought after world of enterprise computing. They should consider the iphone their "trojan horse" into the corporate IT world.

A study released by M:Metrics claims that iPhone is already the most popular device for accessing news and information on the mobile Web, with 85 percent of iPhone users accessing news and information in the month of January. That compares to 13.1 percent of the overall mobile phone market and 58.2 percent of total smartphone owners (e.g. Blackberries). M:Metrics goes on to say that the iPhone is "delivering off-the-charts usage from everything to text messaging to mobile video."

Google recently released a prototype of their Android platform . For those not familiar with Android it is basically a small operating system that runs on mobile phones. The OS comes with prepackaged software like maps, browser, database, bluetooth, audio, and camera functions.
