Richard Doherty of the Envisioneering Group (BD+ Standards Board) declared that BD+ is so strong that it would not be breached for at least 10 years.

Well a company named Slysoft and makers of AnyDVD claim to have cracked BD+ encryption (only eight months after Doherty's statement/dare) and have included the decryption tool in the latest release of their software. Slysoft claims that Blu-ray owners will now be able to "backup" their disks using AnyDVD.

BD+ was considered much harder to crack than the encryption used on HD DVD discs which, by the way, SlySoft cracked last year. SlySoft admits that a minor change to BD+ could render their hack useless, but is confident that it can "future proof" all new releases of AnyDVD through the introduction of an artificial intelligence agent that figures out how to strip DRM from movies even if those movies are encrypted using a previously unknown key.

Hopefully others will learn from Doherty's arrogance and not try to over hype any encryption method. There is no technology that is hacker proof. History has shown the more motivation you give a group the faster a technology can be hacked. As long as humans are developing security methods there will always be a way to break it. A humble approach to security is more appropriate.
