The mobile browser market is set to really take off. We've already seen what the iphone has done to mobile web browsing. Since the iphone sites like google have reported an explosion in the amount of traffic being generated via mobile browsers.

The big reason for this explosion has to do with the fact that most mobile carriers are beginning to offer unlimited data plans that allow users to browse the Internet without surcharges. Other reasons include the fact phone displays and graphics have advanced to the point where the browser experience is almost as enjoyable as sitting at your desktop. We are also seeing more developers developing mobile web friendly applications that further increase the experience of surfing on these devices.

Browser software makers like Mozilla are hard at work shrinking their Web browsers to work on mobile phones. ABI research predicts that "open" browsers, like Firefox and Opera, will soar to 700 million units delivered worldwide by 2013 an 820% increase over the 76 million delivered last year.

This will be good news for major cell phone providers like AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint Nextel. Consumers are spending less and less on traditional voice service. This maybe just the thing these carriers need to grow revenues by selling more mobile data products like unlimited mobile Web access.

An area that will grow leaps and bounds over the next few years.
